I'm no expert on adding shine but I do have a tip to share. When we look at reflective objects, our minds have a tendency to ignore the reflected and distorted images in them and think of it as generic reflection garbage. To draw it properly, you should consider how funny mirrors work. Study how the curvature of the mirror affects the image. Then once you have figured out where the lights are, smack that sort of distorted reflection on the armor, matte it down a bit to look more like metal rather than an actual mirror, and finally, make sure the metal's color shines through.

If you do that right, it wont matter if there's a giant distorted pen+¡s in the reflection; nobody will notice but the armor would look amazingly shiny!

i'll also be requiring sexiful gauntlets and greaves. in a manner inspired perhaps by guild wars ranger sunspear armor. you can keep the leather bottoms under those intact if you choose.
